How Many Fruits & Veggies Do You Really Need Each Day?

October 03, 20252 min read

We’ve all heard it: “Eat more fruits and vegetables.” But what does that actually mean in daily life?

  • For the average adult, the recommendation is at least 5–9 servings a day—about 2 cups of fruit and 3 cups of vegetables.

  • For an athlete or highly active person, the demand is higher—closer to 8–12 servings daily, since their bodies burn through nutrients more quickly and require extra antioxidants to repair and recover.

Here’s the Challenge:

Most Americans barely hit 2–3 servings a day. Between work, family, and the busyness of life, it can feel nearly impossible to prep, cook, and eat that many whole foods consistently.

That’s where simple solutions come in. One of my favorites? A daily green smoothie. Toss in spinach, berries, banana, and maybe some protein, and you’ve already checked off multiple servings before lunch. It’s fast, portable, and delicious.

And while food should always come first, let’s be real—we don’t always eat perfectly. That’s why the right supplements matter. Not all supplements are created equal, and sorting through the confusion can be overwhelming. Choosing high-quality options can help bridge the gap between what you should be eating and what you actually do eat.

Here’s the Good News:

I’ve created a 10-Day Smoothie Challenge that has been an excellent catalyst for hundreds of people beginning their journey toward healthier living. It’s simple, fun, and an easy way to flood your body with nutrients while building momentum.
